Decatur: Lorene Ellis Smith, 87, a homemaker, formerly of Decatur, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Southlake, Texas.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5th at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend John Bart officiating.
Lorene was born April 2, 1924 in Argyle, Texas to Lawrence Alvin and Fannie Mae (Sherman) Ellis. She married Robert L. Smith on July 29, 1942 and was married 43 years at his death in 1985. Lorene is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lawrence Alvin Ellis, Jr.
Lorene was a dutiful wife and mother, who preserved the difficulties of her generation by caring for her family. In her later life, she was a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. Despite health problems in recent years, Lorene never lost her unique spirit or her faith in God.
Left behind to cherish her memory are son, Robert L. Smith, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Plano; daughter, Kerry Linda Alderidge and husband, Joe of Bedford; two granddaughters, Kayla Wood and husband, Jeffrey of Lucas, Texas and Kristi Jo Sekora and husband, Daniel of Pittsburgh, PA; four great grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, and Elizabeth Wood, and Myles Sekora; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
