Decatur: Lou "Mema" Collins, 74, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, May 31, 2008, in Decatur.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3rd, at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial following service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1. Brother David Isbell and will officiate. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday at that Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Monte Shaw, Tony Shaw, Jeff Shaw, Ronnie Shaw, Scooter Shaw, James Stutt, Curtis Anderson, Sam Anderson, Layne Russell, Bill Adams, Dr. Kelley Tibbels and Dr. Jeff Alling.
Lou was born March 13, 1934 in Decatur, to Curtis Onan and Vena Empra (Brown) Shaw, Sr. She married John Henry Collins on April 28, 1956, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was supervisor at GTE until her retirement and she was a charter member of the Eagle Drive Baptist Church. Lou is preceded in death by her parents, 8 brothers and 1 sister.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, John Collins, daughter, Gloria Bryan and husband, Kenny of Decatur; sister, Dortha Anderson of Decatur, Frankie Limburg of Waco; grandson, Butch Bryan of Terral, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Cyndy Bryan Morton and husband, Eric of Decatur; great granddaughter, Maci Morton; and several nieces and nephews.
