CHICO -- Lt. Col. Burnice "Bernie" Choate, 85, retired U.S. Airforce, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 in Decatur. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Shorter officiating. Burial: Chico Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Choate was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Lockesburg, AK. He married Flora Latham May 24, 1943 in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gui H. Choate and his sons, Richard and Gui Choate. Mr. Choate was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God. Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Flora Choate of Chico; daughter, Donna Thomas and husband, Keith of Chico; grandchildren, Lindsey and Kristopher Thomas; sister, Agnus Hoover of Paris; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
