Lurae "Looie" Biffar

Eva Lurae “Looie” Biffar went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 21st on the family farm in Chico, TX. Born June 30, 1945, to Clyde and Elva Attaway Biffar, Looie grew up in Big Spring, TX.

After graduating from North Texas in 1967 with an Art degree, she did a short stint as an artist for a radio station in California. She moved back to Texas and served four and a half decades as a graphic designer in the public relations and communications office at the Baptist General Convention of Texas. After retiring from the BGCT, she served five years in a similar role with WMU of Texas. Known for her God-given creativity she used so well to communicate God’s love through art and design and her servant heart, Looie received numerous graphic design awards from the Baptist Public Relations Association/Baptist Communicators Association.

Looie was not just an artist, but was a devoted aunt, great aunt, surrogate grandmother, surrogate mother, and friend to so many. She loved spending time with the cats she had over the years - especially Puffin and Freckles. Looie loved to dine with family and friends, and was always up to try something new, especially if they had a good key lime pie.

Looie was preceded in death by her brother Glenn Biffar and her sister Elaine Shuffler. 

She is survived by her nephew Aaron Biffar; her niece Andrea Jones and her husband J.D.; niece-in-law Laurie Watkins; sister-in-law Patti Biffar; great-nieces and great-nephews who were considered her grandchildren, along with the Hamill children, other relatives and a wide range of treasured friends and former colleagues. 

The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 25 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. March 26 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with the burial at Chico Cemetery.
