Rhome ~ Lydia O. Leal, 72, a beloved wife of Humberto Leal for 48 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday with 7:00 p.m. Rosary at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Deacon Art Casias will officiate. Pallbearers include Humberto Leal, Adrian Leal, Brandon Valdez, Greyson Valdez, Eleno Leal, and Elian Leal.
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, she was a devoted mother, a vibrant homemaker, a talented seamstress, an avid gardener, and the best and bravest “Ita” (grandmother) in the world. She was famous for her tamales and was a great friend and a mom to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson, Humberto Alejandro Leal.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Humberto Leal of Rhome; her daughters, Fabiola (Jesus) Valdez of Rhome, Xochitl (Bradley) Czechowicz of Justin; sons, Humberto of Denton, and Adrian (Delia) Leal of Donna; grandchildren, Brandon and Greyson Valdez, Lauren and Ariane Czechowicz, Sabrina and Kayla Leal, Coraima, Eleno, Elian, and Angel Leal; sisters, Isabel, Amelia, Agustina, and Dora; brothers, Jesus and Joel, all of Mexico, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
