Lynda May (Smith) Simpson

Decatur  ~ Lynda May Simpson 67, a retired convalescent  worker, went to be with our Lord Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Decatur.

Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Pleasant Grove #3 Cemetery.  Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pastor Jeff Ferguson will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers include Marcus Stratton Simpson, Dale Wilson Simpson, Royce Dylan Simpson, Christopher Paul Taliaferro and Nicholas Scott Easly.

Lynda was born on July 5, 1946 to Samuel Floyd and Ethel May (Brown) Smith in Denton.  She worked for Decatur Convalescent for 17 years before her retirement. Lynda was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Wilson Simpson; her brother, Tommy Smith; her Sister, Elsie Nugent; and her two grandsons.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rhonda Taliaferro and husband Rick of Newark, Sherrie Amey of Decatur and Laurie Delgado of Decatur; her sons, Dale Simpson and wife Michelle of Paradise and Marcus Simpson and wife Rhonda of Decatur; her 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; her brothers, Floyd Smith, Ed Smith and wife Jerri and Terry Smith and wife Bobbie; her sisters, Ina Cundiff and husband Bill and Carolyn McClaine; her sister-in-laws, Barbara Shipp and Sharon Montgomery; other family members and a host of friends.
