Slidell: Maggie Sue Balthrop, 91, a manager in retail sales, went to be with our Lord Monday, October 29, 2012 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1st at the First Baptist Church of Slidell with Rev. Alec Haigood officiating. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Tim Fletcher, Sam Dunlap, Steve Pruett, James Sitz, Roger Weber, Bert Pruett and Billy Jack Maxwell.

Sue was born on June 2, 1921 in Myra, Texas to Luther and Vada (Anderson) Balthrop. She became a Christian when she was 11 years old and became a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. Sue was united in marriage to Frank Rives Balthrop on December 27, 1940 in Greenwood. She and Frank moved their church letter to the First Baptist Church in Slidell where she remained there until her death. She was a faithful member of the church's single club. Sue worked mostly for Ben Franklin's, but worked for Bodine's Hallmark Store in Denton until her retirement.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Steve Balthrop and wife Kay of Electra; brother, Bill Ballinger and wife Ann of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Kerri Haigood and husband Alec of Wichita Falls, Steven Balthrop and wife Chris of San Antonio; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Heath Haigood of Wichita Falls, Dawson and River Balthrop of San Antonio; nephew, Ronnie Pierce and wife Brenda of Jacksonville; two great-nieces, Reggie Ballinger of Plainview and Memorie Reseman of Greenwood; great-nephew, Clint Pierce of Denver, Colorado; other family members and a host of friends.

Sue was preceded in death by husband, Frank Balthrop; parents; sister, Lesena Tapp; and nephew, Randy Ballinger.
