Decatur: Mamie Alma Matney, 99, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Monday, March 5, 2012 in Decatur.
Graveside service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Jonestown Cemetery near Alvord, Texas, with Rev. Mark Ogle officiating. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Mamie was born December 11, 1912 in Alvord, Texas to George Washington and Maggie (Dodd) Watts. She was united in marriage to Homer Sarvis Matney on November 15, 1931 in Altus, Oklahoma. Mamie is preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers and 6 sisters. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for 75 years.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Homer Matney, Jr. and wife Martha of Decatur and Eddie Matney and wife Gweneth of Fort Worth; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
