Margaret Jean Adams, 82, a nutritionist, went to be with our Lord Sunday, August, 28, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in Pleasant Grove #2 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Mark Autry will officiate. Pallbearers include Kassiddy Lester, James Lester, Charles Chapman, Sam Holcomb, Chris Holcomb and Adam Adams. Honorary pallbearer is Robert Lacey.
Jean was born on August 23, 1934 to Raymond "Doc" and Gracie Mae (Gaston) Vess in Boyd. She was united in marriage to Charles "Sonny" Norris Adams on November 19, 1951 in Decatur. Jean retired from The Hills Nursing Home as a dietary nutritionist. She was a member of the Keeter Baptist Church in Keeter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Danny Charles Adams; and her sister, Betty Kemp.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Bobby Ray Adams and wife Pamela of Azle; her daughters, Paula Holcomb and husband Sam of Saginaw, Kim Lester and husband Baron of Decatur, Sheila Tackett and husband Coy of Decatur; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Sonny Vess of Eureka, California; her sisters, Peggy Keiper of Boyd, and Darlene Evans of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
