Margaret Ann (Gettys) Cude

Decatur ~ Margaret Ann Cude died on September 7, 2019, her birthday, surrounded by her family at home.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.  Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dr. Van Gardner and Bro. Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers will include Martin Woodruff, Mason Woodruff, Tim Woodruff, David Cude, and Noe Casares.
Margaret Ann Getty’s was the second of three children of Cicero T. Gettys and Albert Van Ness Walker, and was born on September 7, 1923 at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Her older brother was Charles Thomas Gettys, and her younger sister was Mary Louise Gettys (Woodruff). She spent her childhood and most of her life in Decatur, Texas.
She graduated from Decatur High School in 1940, and from Decatur Baptist College in 1942. After graduating from DBC, she taught English in Decatur Public School, then as a dental assistant in Kerrville, Texas.
In May 1949, she married Milvern Leslie Cude, a Naval Air Corps pilot, and assisted in their floral business in Decatur until their retirement in 1977. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May of this year.
Margaret enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, being Memaw to her two grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved parents, and her brother and sister.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of over 70 years, her oldest son, Murray Paul Cude, and her youngest son, Melton David Cude and wife Arlena of Decatur; her grandchildren, Amy Casares and husband Noe of Decatur, and David Cude and wife Kristen of Denton; her great-grandchildren, Evangelyhnn and Nehemiah Casares of Decatur, and Jireh Grace Cude of Denton; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
