DECATUR--Margie Pauline Avant, 89, of Decatur passed away October 25, 2007 in Groesbeck, Texas.
Funeral: 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 29, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home, Rev. Johnny Irish to officiate, with burial in Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Avant was born October 1, 1918 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Jessie James and Hattie Ensey Matthews. She married Henry Lawrence Avant on April 30, 1933 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She loved gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur as well as a member of a local Quilting Club.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Gayla Sue Pittman and husband Bobby of Buffalo, Texas; 2 sons, Herman Dale Avant and wife Deanna of Oakdale, California, and Larry Avant of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Lawrence Avant, her parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
