Fort Worth ~ Maria G. Lopez Cervantes, 85, went to be with our Lord Friday, October 13, 2017 in Decatur.
Mass and Christian burial is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. Johns the Baptizer Catholic Church in Bridgeport with interment in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Rosary is 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Thomas Dsouza, Deacon Art Casias, and Deacon Mauricio Hernandez will officiate. Pallbearers include Eddy Cervantes, Rolando Cruz, Samuel Cervantes, Samuel Cervantes Jr., and Raphael Cruz.
Maria was born on November 7, 1931 to Donaciano Lopez and Gabriela Garcia in Las Tinajas Apulco Zacatecas, Mexico. She was united in marriage to J Socorro Cervantes who preceded her in death. Maria was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Miguel Cervantes, her brother, Jesus Lopez; and her sister, Preciliana Lopez.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Maria Cervantes Diego and Samuel Cervantes, Anabertha Cervantes, Edelmina Cruz and Santos; Ofilia Lopez and Jose Juan; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
