Maria "Choco" Del Socorro Mares

Decatur ~ María Del Socorro Mares, 66, went to rest on Friday, April 30, 2021 in Denton.

Graveside service is 11:00 AM Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur .

Antonio Martinez will officiate. Pallbearers include Caleb Griffeth, Connor Orr, Steven Pedroza, Eric Pedroza, Juan Pedroza, Benjamín Pedroza, Vicente Mares, Jr., and Alberto Mares.

María was born on March 3, 1955 to Ramiro and María (Romo) García in Zaragoza, Coahuila. She was united in marriage to Vicente Mares on October 18, 1971 in Zaragoza, Coahuila. She was beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Vicente Mares; her children, Minerva Pedroza, Concha Pedroza, Alberto Mares and wife Samantha, Yolanda Cyrus, and Vicente Mares, Jr.; her grandchildren, Steven, Eric, Briana Pedroza, Caleb Griffeth, Connor Orr, Celeste, Natalie Pedroza, Tristán, Alana Mares, and Rylan Mares; her great-granddaughter, Cataleya Azul Pedroza; her father, Ramiro García; her siblings, Juana Guadalupe García Romo, Berta Rosa García Zamora, Estella Margarita García Romo, Maria Teresa García Romo, Jesus García Romo, Ramiro Alberto García Romo, Rolando García Romo, Jose Antonio García Romo, and Juan Francisco Romo; other relatives and a host of friends.
