Bridgeport ~ Marie Slagle Kennedy, 90, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Dr. David Burrows will officiate. Pallbearers include David Clark, Kevin Lopez, Kelly Kennedy, Brandon Kennedy, Dwayne Garrett, Jason Kennedy, Dylan Kennedy, and Casey Kleam.
Marie was born on July 15, 1922 to Marshall and Rachel (Bradley) Slagle in Springtown, Texas. She was united in marriage to Bedford Kennedy on July 26, 1941 in Bridgeport. Marie was co-owner of BK Trucking in Bridgeport. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bedford Kennedy; her brothers, Claude, Bill and Virgil Slagle; and her sister, Hattie Coffee.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Dawayne Kennedy and wife Kathy of Bridgeport, Gaylord Kennedy and wife Brenda of Bridgeport; her daughters, Carla Provence and husband Travis of Bridgeport, Darla Kleam and husband Randy of Bridgeport; her sister-in-law, Joyce Bailey; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews ,cousins, and a host of friends.
