Marie Neighbors

Marie Clara Neighbors, 94, of Slidell, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, June 8, 2020 in Denton.

Graveside is 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Rev. Jack Crockett is officiating. Pallbearers include Melton Neighbors, Pat Garrett, Marion Yale, Jimmy Gillum, and Kenny Bryan. Honorary pallbearer is Don Spain.

Marie was born on January 4, 1926 in Bowie, Texas. Her parents were Joe Bailey and Clara (Hachtel) Doyle. She was united in marriage to Donal J.H. Neighbors on June 18, 1945 in Decatur, Texas. Marie was a charter member of Eagle Drive Baptist until she couldn’t drive, then she attended Cross Point Baptist church in Gainesville, with her son and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry Neighbors and wife Janie of Valley View; 3 grandchildren, Tamara Blythe and husband Clint of Decatur, Heather Whited and husband Daniel of Valley View, and Andrew Neighbors and wife Heather of Valley View; 7 great-grandchildren, Layni and Zane Blythe, Colton, Coy and Chaynie Whited, Sara and Hyton Neighbors; extended family and a host of friends.
