Marijon (Maxwell) Rutherford

Decatur ~ Marijon Rutherford, 93, went to be with our Lord Friday, May 26, 2023 in Denton, Texas.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at First Church in Decatur with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the Service at the Church.

David Lowrie and Joe Gonzalez will officiate. Music will be led by Gerre Joiner and John Hogan. Pallbearers include Ben Joseph, Rodney Joseph, Sandy Joseph, Trent Joseph, Kip Hardin, and Steve Curry.

Marijon was born February 28, 1930 to John Newton and Oleta Faye (McDaniel) Maxwell in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage August 25, 1951 to Bennie Dean Rutherford in Denton, Texas. Marijon was a retired school teacher after many years in the education industry. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Oleta Maxwell and a son, Steve Rutherford.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 71 years, Bennie Dean Rutherford of Decatur; her daughter, Denise Joseph of Decatur; 7 grandchildren, Shayne Hardin and husband Kip of Decatur, Ben Joseph of Greenwood, Rodney Joseph of Arizona, Sandy Joseph of Austin, Trent Joseph of Denver, Christina Wyatt of Round Rock, and Cole Rutherford of Granbury; 7 great-grandchildren, Gray Hardin, Sloane Hardin, Zeda Joseph, Sarah Joseph, Blaine Rutherford, Addison Wyatt, and Tristen Wyatt; and a host of friends.
