DECATUR----Martha M. Brandon, 81 passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 in Decatur. Funeral Service: 10 AM Friday at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial: Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Gary Demmit will be officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Compoass Hospice, P.O. Box 1147, Decatur, Texas 76234.
Martha was born May 3, 1924 in Fort Worth, Texas to Albert and Addie (Turner) Pederson. She married James L. Brandon, Sr. on May 15, 1943 in Texas and then moved to California and worked as a custodial manager for all campuses at University of California at Los Angeles. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church for 7 years.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Brandon on June 27, 2004 after 61 years of marriage. She was also preceded by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by: her son: James L. Brandon, Jr. and wife Jeanie of Bridgeport; her daughter: Mildred Mauck and husband Bill of California; 3 grandsons: Scott and Jeb Brandon, and Michael Maucl; 4 granddaughters: Eleanor Proutt, Maribeth Munoz, Lisa Mauck, Autum Beaty; 5 great grandchildren: Jewel, Madison, Andrew, Reyanna, Daylynn; 2 sister-in-laws: Lola and Louise; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Bobo, Delbert Thornhill, Michael Beaty, Eric vonAtzigen, Christian vonAtzigen, and Kevin vonAtzigen. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Don Howell, John Bobo, Hans vonAtzigen, Floyd Houtz, Billy Pon, Keith Jones, Lawrence Bowling, and Jim Taylor.
