Decatur: Martha Frances Kirkbride, 95, a teacher, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, March 7th at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Ken May officiating. Interment: Preskitt Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Charles Calvert, Rick Cooper, Dennis Dellis, Todd Hasty, Noel Ruddick and Gary Howard.
Martha was born on October 11, 1915 in Peoria, Texas to Ross and Maggie Lavesta (Bledsoe) Cargile. She was the oldest of four children. Martha graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1932. She earned her Bachelor's and her Master's of Education from North Texas University. Martha retired from teaching after 30 years.
Martha married Robert L. Kirkbride on December 23, 1939 in Hillsboro, Texas and was married 65 years at his death on December 30, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her sister Margaret Ann Metts and brother, James Ross Cargile.
Left behind to cherish her memory is sister, Rowena Calhoun of San Antonio; niece, Phyllis Millirons of Minnesota; three nephews, Danny Cargile of Abbott, Texas, Ricky Cargile of Hubbard, Texas, and Ron Calhoun and wife, Mary of Decatur.
