Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4th at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Glenn Waldon and Reverend F. C. Lasater. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery following the service
Martin was born July 9, 1923 in Decatur, Texas to Clyde Vernon and Isabelle Cook Barrett. He married Doris Laverne Chandler on January 6, 1945 in Decatur. Martin served in the United States Army during World War II, he was a mason for over 50 years and he was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church since 1937.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Doris Barrett of Decatur; daughters, Barbara Ann Stewart and husband, James H. of Plano, Wanda Lasater and husband, Frank C. of Longmont, Colorado, Chanda Smith and husband, Mark J. of Plano; 3 grandchildren, Gwendolyn Dawn Byerly and husband, Matt of Johnstown, Colorado, Martin Barrett Lasater of Rapid City, South Dakota, Scott Raymond Lasater of Denver, Colorado; 5 great grandchildren, Derek T. Bratetic, Katlin G. Byerly, Kaley-Ann C. Byerly, Ava E. Lasater, Genevieve L. Lasater.
