BRIDGEPORT -- Martin Casillas, 81, the owner and operator of Casillas Mexican Restaurant for many years, died Friday, March 16, 2007 in Decatur. Mass of Christian Burial: 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Bridgeport. Burial: Mexican Cemetery. Rosary: 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Martin was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Bridgeport to Charlie and Josephine Burrola Casillas. He married Ruth Valasquez Jan. 6, 1941. They were united 66 years until his passing. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Juanita Salas and son, David Casillas. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors: Wife, Ruth Casillas of Bridgeport; sons, Martin Casillas, Jr. and wife, Mary Helen of Bridgeport and Charley Casillas and wife, Cecilia of Ft. Worth; daughters, Mary Martinez and husband, Jesse of Ft. Worth, Josephine Morales and husband, Joe of Ft. Worth, Ida Gonzales and husband, Santos of Alvarado, Pauline Ramos and husband Robert of Arlington, Helen Casillas of Bridgeport; sisters, Mary Sue Garza of Paradise and Emily Davilla of Bridgeport; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.
