Mary Elizabeth (Chancey) Lambert

May 25, 1926 — November 29, 2020

Mary Elizabeth Chancey Lambert, 94, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020 in Decatur, Texas.

Mary was born May 25, 1926 to Floy Bess and Joseph “Pitt” Chancey in Ozark, Arkansas.  She graduated from Ozark High School.    After graduation, Mary attended the University of North Texas where she majored in piano and voice.

Mary married Dr. Paul Jarrett Lambert on July 14, 1946 and made their home in Decatur.  She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church where she faithfully served as the church pianist for 43 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and her service continued as she started the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Mary’s great love was for her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren made her heart sing in the same way that her beautiful voice would sing.  Her fried chicken and homemade rolls were legendary.  In the same way, filling her house with her beloved friends gathering to play bridge was a weekly joyous event. Her love will remain in the hearts of her family, along with the cherished memories of time spent with her.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, brother and sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Cyndi Lambert Boyd and husband Billy; her son Jarrett Chancey Lambert and wife Debbie; her daughter Elizabeth Lynn Lambert; and her son Lindsay Lee Lambert and wife Donna; grandchildren Lambert Boyd and his wife Sarah and their children Lucy and Luke; Austin Paul Boyd and his wife Julie and their children Parker and Ellie; Chanci Nicks and her husband Mason and their children Wyatt and Reagan; Mark Lambert and his wife Annesly and their children Evelyn, Lucy, Annette, Millie, and Henry; Michael Lambert and his wife Erin and their children Amelia, Owen, and Connor; Laura Lambert; Paul Lambert; John Lambert;  several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A private service will be held to celebrate the life of Mary Chancey Lambert at the First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made in Mary’s memory to the Choir Fund at First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Texas.
