Decatur: Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Hancock, 95, formerly of Alvord, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, January 6th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Rhodes and Gerre Joiner officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Chet Niblett, Jerrod Niblett, Trent Niblett, Colton Niblett, Cruz Niblett, Mark Pingel and Pete Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers include Gilbert Smith, Ed Badger, William Howell and Bob Barnes.
Libby was born July 4, 1916 in Memphis, Texas to Otha Bayless and Willie Bertha (Howell) Quarles. She was united in marriage to William Chester "Jug" Hancock on January 24, 1939 and was married 32 years at his death on October 31, 1971. Libby was a longtime employee of Dunn's Hardware of Decatur and she was a Stanley Home Product distributor for over 26 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Earlene Niblett and husband Don; three grandsons, Chester D. Niblett and wife Elaina, Jerrod Niblett and wife Vicki, and Mark Pingel all of Decatur; 5 great grandchildren, Trent, Colton, and Cruz Niblett, Pete Smith and wife Katrina and Payton Gibson; great-great grandson, Brock Smith; nephew, Bob Barnes and wife Lenda of Alvord; two nieces, Sarah Kaps and husband Steve of Orlando, Florida, Eleanor Barnes of Oakland, Florida; and extended family members, Gilbert and Lynda Smith of Tyler, Texas.
