Mary Lou (Vetter) Shafer

Decatur ~ Mary Lou Shafer, 70, went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 10, 2023 in Plano, Texas.

Mary was born October 9, 1953 to Donald and Odetta Marie (Goodwin) Vetter in Stapleton, Nebraska. She was retired from American Airlines after many years as a customer service representative. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Odetta Vetter; and a sister, Donnie Ellis.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 2 daughters, Stacy Arce and husband Frank of Decatur, and Dawn McKendrick and husband James of Haslet; her son, Gene Myers and wife Kim of Decatur; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 4 sisters, Sandy Pecjak, Connie Vetter, Carol Black, and Debbie Vetter; her brother, James Vetter; extended family members and a host of friends.
