Aurora ~ Mary Jo Smith, 77, a retired bookkeeper went to be with her Lord Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at the Newark Church of Christ with Mike Boaldin officiating. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers include Tony Rhett Dickey, Justin Burk, John Gordon Smith, Cooper Smith, Anthony Balanda, and Scott Tomlinson.
Mary Jo was born on April 19, 1936 in Duster, Texas to Morgan and Alta Lee (Anderson) Rhodes. She married Calvin Smith on August 26, 1957 in Weatherford, Texas. She was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Calvin Smith of Aurora; daughter, Casey Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Clayt Smith and wife Teresa of Rhome; 2 grandsons, John Gordon Smith and Cooper Smith; 3 brothers, Edward Rhodes of Grapevine, John Rhodes of Fort Worth, and Jerry Rhodes of Whitney; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
