Matthew Kirbie

Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with Father Jacob Alvares officiating. Family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to the Mass at the church and 5-6 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Steven Reeves, Adam Darrach, Jessie Horton, Glenn Hornback, Jake Kaz, and Jake Warner. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Bell and Bobby Richie.

Matthew was born on May 12, 1953 in Fort Worth to Troy and Annabell Elizabeth (Calvert) Kirbie. He was united in marriage to Rhonda Gail Phillips on June 15, 1974 in Decatur. Matthew was employed by KART Construction in Fort Worth as a construction estimator.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Rhonda Kirbie; two sons, Mark Kirbie and wife Amber of Paradise, Merrick Kirbie and wife Megan of Falls City, Texas; daughter, Melissa Renee Minor and husband David of Decatur; six granddaughters, Madison, Maliah, Mikena, Mariah, Maci and Mykah; two brothers, Michael Kirbie and wife Deborah of Decatur, Malcom Kirbie and wife Kelli of Chico; sister, Marcella Rhine and husband Dennis of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Matthew is preceded in death by his parents; son, Miles Kirbie; and brothers, Mark and Martin Kirbie.
