Mattie Evelyn Morehead Hays

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bro. Perry Hall and Bro. Michael Downs to officiate. Pallbearers include David Scott Herrera, Morgan Yocum, Kainen Nelms, David Hillary, Eric Hillary, Cody Lewis, Harold Scott Read and Jason Read.

Mattie was born on August 24, 1917 to Albert and Mattie (Pewitt) Maddux in Bridgeport. She was married to Scott Morehead on November 4, 1933 in Paradise until he passed on April 15, 1985. Mattie was united in marriage to Troy Hays on July 19, 2002 in Paradise. She was a retired medical records clerk for Bridgeport Hospital and a member of the Paradise Church of Christ.

Mattie is preceded in death by her parents; her loving aunt and uncle that raised her, Amanda and Oscar Hartsell; her brothers, Carl, T.J. and Aubrey Maddux, and Ike Hartsell; her sisters, Ruth McDowell, Martha Campbell, and Emma Harms; her grandson, Mark Morehead; the father of her children, Scott Morehead; her great grandchild, Brandy Scott Odell and her great great grandchild, Braylon Shetter.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Troy Hays of Paradise; her daughter, Dot Read and husband Harold of Paradise; her son, Randall Scott Morehead and wife Carlene of Paradise; her grandchildren, Duane Read and wife Marilyn, Mitchell Read and wife Debbie, Lori Read-Dolak and husband George, Cindy Lewis, Becky Wilson and husband David, Scotty Tittor and husband Paul and Susanna Rutledge; 20 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
