Decatur ~ Mattie Lou Sermons, 86, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, December 20th, 2023.
Mattie was born March 8th, 1937 to Willie Wesley and Eva Laverne (Stedley) Greer in Weatherford, Texas. She was united in marriage November 22, 1964 to James Maurice Sermons in Weatherford, Texas. Mattie started Eagle Café in the early 80’s, then 2 years later opened “Matties” Café on the square in Decatur where she worked and operated for many years before retiring. She loved her life, family, and friends. She felt blessed and knew that God always had a plan for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Eva Greer; and her husband James Sermons; her son, Charles Roberson; and nine brothers & sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Chester Roberson and wife Gail of Decatur; granddaughters, Andrea Roberson of Decatur, Lindsey Gildon of Decatur and Christy Wood of Wichita Falls; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Natalie, and Selvin; two brothers, Raymond Greer of Georgia, and Rickey Greer of Georgia; her sisters, Beverly Jernigan, Jenny Mullane, and Deborah Tucknies; extended family and a host of friends.
The family asked that memorials are be made to the charity of your choice.
