Rhome ~ Maxine Thorell Griffin, 86, of Rhome went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Plano, Texas.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Aurora Cemetery with Pastor Carl L. Thorell officiating. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Maxine was born on November 9, 1927 to O.Z. and Dollie (Brammer) Thorell in Rhome, Texas. She married Daniel Bert "D.B." Griffin on April 5, 1947 in Rhome, Texas. They were married for 62 years till his passing in 2009. Maxine enjoyed square dancing in her younger days with her husband and later playing 42 and Bingo. She loved her family, her Lord, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left behind to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Don Griffin of Rhome and Gary Griffin and wife Dorothy of Dallas; 2 granddaughters, Joanie Griffin Lester and husband Steven of Celina and Chelsie Griffin of Dallas; step granddaughter, Sabrina Lambert of Haltom City; 3 great grandchildren, Wyatt Samuel Lester, Ainsley Maxine Lester, and Enzo Lester; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters, Juanelle Thorell and Geneva Burch; and a brother, Carl A. Thorell.
