A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 27th at 3:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas, and a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2nd at East Bridgeport Cemetery.
He was born August 1, 1912 in Stillwell, OK. He was a long-time resident of Bridgeport before moving to San Antonio. He was Executive Vice President and Director of the First National Bank of Bridgeport, a deacon of the First Baptist Church, where he also served as Treasurer, Trustee, Sunday School Director, and teacher. He was currently a member of Madison Hill Baptist Church in San Antonio. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, other civic organizations, and was a 33rd Degree Mason, and a member of Moslah Shrine. After serving in the US Army before WW II, he worked at North American Aviation, building P-51 aircraft during the war. He later owned Dee's Cafe in downtown Bridgeport. During the 1950's he was also the Bridgeport City Secretary.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ozelle Dawkins.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Gary and Connie Dawkins, of Helotes, Texas, and his grandchildren, Sherry Johnson, Cody Jamison, and Jenna Jamison.
