Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19th at the Lifeway Country Church in Decatur with Reverend Gene Fluker officiating.
Melba was born on July 26, 1927 in Nocona, Texas, to Martin Luther and Ella Kay (Cox) McGrew. She retired in 1991 from Lederle Laboratories in Dallas as a customer service representative. Melba was a member of Decatur Senior Citizen's Center and a member of the Lifeway Country Church. She married William Jack Sanderfer on September 14, 1945 and was married 33 years at his death in 1978. Melba is also preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Linda Kaye Burroughs.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sandra Erwin of Lewisville, Carol Sullens and husband, Dennis of Decatur; eight grandchildren, Johnny and Renee DeFee, Tina Perez, Lisa Geiger, Stephen Hammonds, Alicia Bevan, Jeremy Flowers and Tammy Sullens; sister, Reba Gail Miller of Carrollton; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
