Melba Stephens

Chico ~ Melba Ruth Stephens, 96, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, July 14, 2019 in Decatur.

Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Rev. Mike Miller will officiate.

Melba was born April 25, 1923 to Jamie and Lola (Dickinson) Meek in Chico. She was united in marriage to Tom Stephens on January 1, 1941 in Waurika, Oklahoma. Melba was a member of Morris Memorial Methodist Church in Chico and the Chico Quilting Club.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jeana Wilt and husband Todd of Chico, and JoAnn Scobee and husband Mike of Runaway Bay; her sons, Tom Stephens Jr. and wife Shari of Fredericksburg, and Jerry Stephens of Chico; her grandchildren, Stephen, Lisa, Brad, Megan, and Jared; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
