M.H. was born May 25 th , 1942 to Marion Henry and Vivian (Hachtel) Montgomery in Decatur, Texas. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1960. After high school he attended the University of North Texas, and worked various jobs while in the Army National Guard. While in the Guard he attended the N.C.O. Academy as well as O.C.S.. He was honorably discharged from the Guard in 1970 with a rank of First Lieutenant. He then began what would become a 38 year long career with Temple Incorporated, an electrical supply distributor. He started out working in the warehouse, and worked his way up to outside sales. Over the course of his career he made many life long friends, in both co-workers and customers.
M.H. had a strong love of cooking, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t cook well. Known for spending his weekends smoking briskets, chickens, and ribs, he was also a master of the grill, and was renowned for his steaks and burgers. Homemade chili, BBQ sauce, and sausage were just a few of the things he loved to create. He enjoyed fast cars, and took a lot of pride in a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that he and his brother, Dalton, had restored. Never at a loss for words or lack knowledge, he loved to sit with friends and family and talk for hours. He retired from what is now H.D. Supply in 2009, and spent the remainder of his life on his land that he loved with his brother and good friends.
Left behind to cherish his memory is a daughter, Allie Montgomery of Fort Worth; son, Clay Montgomery and Jackie of Fort Worth; 3 grandchildren, Bryson, Shelby, and Farrah; brother, Dalton Montgomery and wife Sharon of Decatur; niece, Angie Browning and husband Sean of Decatur; nephew, Chad Montgomery of Decatur; numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Emma Faye Robinson.
