Decatur ~ Michael Leroy Bates, 73, went to be with our Lord Saturday, March 7, 2020 in Decatur.

Service to be scheduled at a later date.

Michael was born May 5, 1946 to Elmus K. and Mary Gillespie Bates in Anniston, Alabama. He was retired from oil & gas fitting sales and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gillespie and sister, Linda Kay Johnston.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Renee Copeland and husband JD, Suzanne Holmes and husband Jason, and Christina Henager; his grandchildren, Emily Morris and husband Kenneth, Cody Copeland and wife Danielle, Samantha Dalton, Sarah Dalton, Audrey Henager, Annsley and John Holmes; numerous friends and extended family.
