Decatur ~ Mildred Nadine Holveck Wear, 91, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Decatur.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Hawkins Funeral Home chapel in Decatur with burial to follow at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Rev. Phillip Weitner will officiate. Pallbearers include, Ben Hoover, Matt Hoover, John Hoover, and Troy Misner.
Mildred was born to Mary Allie (Pierce) Holveck and Lucian Holveck on April 30, 1928, near Cedar Hill in Southwest Dallas County, Texas.
She was the oldest of six children. She attended elementary school at Florence Hill. The family moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1937. Mildred graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1946. In school she excelled in choir and throughout life she enjoyed singing.
In November 1948 she married John Misner and from this marriage were born five children.
Mildred married Carl Wear in November 1964 and they settled in Rhome in June of 1967. She enjoyed the many years she lived in Rhome. She and Carl were very active in Civic Life. Carl served as mayor of Rhome and they were Mainstays of the First Baptist Church. They enjoyed traveling, managed to see most of North America. Mildred excelled as a seamstress and her floral arranging skills were on display at numerous locations. She was an avid doll collector and she spent a great deal of time working with the local schools. She received an award in 1998 for her Volunteer service at Seven Hills Elementary.
Mildred was predeceased by her siblings Derrel Wayne Holveck, Atwell Lloyd Holveck, Morris Ladell Holveck, and Norma Fross.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hoover and husband Jerry of Paradise, Donna Magness of Granbury, Steve Misner and wife Cindi of Rhome, John Misner of Anneville, and Norma Jean Misner Smith of Rhome; her step-children, Carolyn Hines and husband Dan of Rhome, Jennifer Blomberg and husband Jerry of Ogema, Wisconsin, and Gary Wear and wife Cynthia of Whitesboro; her 18 grandchildren; her 38 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandsons; her sister, Paula Reaves and husband Kenneth of Fort Worth;
The Family would like to express our immense gratitude to the staff of the Hills Nursing Home of Decatur for the tremendous work they have done for the last Decade.
