Molene Burnes Sumerlin, a teacher and homemaker, 84, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, June 1, 2008.

Graveside service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, in Bellview Cemetery in Rotan, Texas. Dr. Kelly Tibbels, her son-in-law will officiate. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3rd, at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Charlie Tibbels, Jason Tibbels, Samuel Tibbels, Tanner Burnes, Zack Burnes and Doyle Browning.

Molene was born on August 31, 1923 in Rotan, Texas, to Lewis Edward and Ruth (Stephenson) Clark. She was a teacher and homemaker, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rotan. She married Earl Ray Burnes on April 28, 1945 and preceded him in his death on June 19, 1974. She married Al D. Sumerlin and preceded him in his death in 1983.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Sam Burns and wife, Nancy of Midland, Bob Burnes of Midland; daughter, Sandy Tibbels and husband, Dr. C. Kelley Tibbels of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Debby Burnes of Rotan; 10 grandchildren, Shawn Browning, Brandi Burnes, Amanda and Tanner Burnes, Jason and Charlie Tibbels, Caitlin and Samuel Tibbels, Jenni and Zach Burnes; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Molene is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ray Burnes, second husband, Al D. Sumerlin; son, Bill Burnes; grandson, Shannon Burnes; great grandson, Charles Jaxon Tibbels; and 3 sisters.
