Myra Kaye (Santerre) Crowley

January 28, 1944 — November 30, 2020

Myra Santerre Crowley was welcomed into heaven on November 30, 2020 after fighting a 14-year battle against dementia which she fought with such grace and strength.  Myra loved life and her family, and she lived life to the fullest.

She was born on January 28, 1944 to Wilburne and Tommie Santerre in Dallas, Texas.  Myra is the great great granddaughter of Francois Santerre who traveled from Blois, France to settle and establish the La Reunion Colony which is now known as Oak Cliff in 1856 where the residents of the colony grew grapes and fruit as a living.  Myra attended Sunset High School in Dallas and the University of Houston.

Myra was a fierce competitor in playing golf and tennis. She won numerous golf tournaments during her many years of playing her favorite game by shooting or scoring in the 70’s many times.  Her trophy case is full of her memories.  Myra was one of the founders of the Ladies Golf Association at the Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas.

A bright light in the world, Myra touched the lives of so many people with her compassionate heart and extraordinary generosity.  Her smile could light up a room and her laughs were contagious.  She was fun to be around and loved people.  She would tell all that she loved them even in her last days with us. Myra loved to dance and would drag her husband out on the dance floor at the first sound of music.

Her legacy will live on in her daughter and grandchildren who have many of her beautiful traits.  She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her survivors, husband Jerry Crowley of Rhome, TX, daughter Gia Hooper and husband Jeff of Westlake, TX, granddaughter Emily Hooper and grandson Jack Hooper of Westlake, TX.   She had many nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart.

Myra was preceding in death by her father, mother, her loving sister Sarah Wages and husband Jim.  When she entered the gates of Heaven, she was greeted with a standing ovation while joining her grandparents, parents, sister and Jim, and many friends while God shined a spotlight on her life and said “well done, my good and faithful servant”.

A graveside service will be conducted at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas at 2:00pm on Monday, December 7, 2020.
