Nelba Ruth Culverhouse

Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bro. Danny Russell and Bro. Gerald Cleveland will officiate. Pallbearers are Mikeal Priddy, Casey Adams, Robert Culverhouse, and Alan Bailey.

Nelba was born on November 27, 1924 to Charles and Gertie (Stockard) Griffis in Crafton, Texas. She married Ed Culverhouse on March 20, 1943 in Wise County. Nelba was a member of Crafton Church of Christ. She was a cafeteria manager at Chico ISD.

Nelba was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Donald Edward and Ronald Hubert Culverhouse; her brothers, Carrol and Horace Griffis; and her sisters, Oleta Bender, Elsie Griffis, and Reba Richey.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years 5 months 6 days, Ed Culverhouse of Chico; her son, Billy Culverhouse and wife Becky of Eastland; her daughter, Janice Jones and husband Danny of Woodson; her grandchildren, Emily and Alan Bailey, Amanda and Casey Adams, Robert and Tessa Culverhouse, Carol Anne and Mikeal Priddy; her great grandchild, Ella Jane Adams; her sisters, Lela Duck of Chico and Genell Hopkins of Park Springs; other relatives and a host of friends.
