Nora Dean (Taylor) Rice

Alvord ~ Nora Dean Taylor Rice, 91, went to be with our Lord Sunday, August 18, 2019, in Decatur.
Graveside service is 10:00 a.m. Friday August 23, 2019 at Alvord Cemetery in Alvord. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur.
Rev. Don Taylor will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will include Jacob Hickey, Aaron Wilkinson, C.J. Todd, and Nathan Adkins.
Nora was born November 18, 1927 to William “Billy” Dawson and Sarah Jane (Roberts) Taylor in Grandfield, OK. She was united in marriage to Martin Rice on March 21, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Nora was known for her caring nature, at various times during her life she unselfishly cared for elderly and seriously ill relatives, including her husband Martin, both her parents, her father-in-law, and three sisters. She was the long acting matriarch of her family. Nora was the glue that kept scattered family members in touch. She will long be remembered for her love of the Lord, outrageous humor, and deep commitment to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Martin Rice; her eight brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sarah Wilkinson of Sanger, and Lora Hickey and husband Lonnie of Springtown; her grandchildren, Hannah Todd and husband C.J., Aaron Wilkinson, Jacob Hickey, and Krystina Hickey; her great-grandson, Nathan Adkins; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends.
