Norma Joyce Davis was born in Decatur, Texas on December 21, 1931 she was the daughter of Gomer Earnest Lee and Maggie Embrey (Brown) Lee. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a homemaker. Norma had three sisters, Barbara Lee, Elfreda Garlington, and Hazel Massey and two brothers, Donald and Norman all of who preceded her in death.
The Lee family lived on a farm north and west of Decatur, near Norma’s current residence. Norma left home at a young age and moved to Wichita where she met and married on June 13, 1965 Theodore Grant Davis Jr. he was in the car business, and together with Norma they acquired a number of dealerships in Kansas and the surrounding states. At one time Grant owned or had interest in 10 dealerships in 3 different states. The Wichita, Kansas dealerships still operate under the name “Davis Moore”. Norma and Grant enjoyed their life together and acquired a second home at Grand Lake in Oklahoma. One of Norma’s great pleasures was spending time at their residence at the lake in Oklahoma. She particularly enjoyed entertaining her family members there. Before Grant’s death, Norma had the urge to return to the Decatur area, and purchased a farm on the edge of Decatur. She and Grant made improvements to the farm house and property. After Grant’s death in 2001, she made the decision to spend most of her time in Texas and acquired a new residence and acreage. She was able to spend many happy hours there with her sister Elfreda and with her other family members that she so treasured. The acquisition of the farm outside Decatur also led her into the cattle business, as well as permitting her to indulge her love of animals. She had horses, burros, dogs, lamas, and were well fed, although not domestic deer and turkey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Theodore Grant Davis Jr.; her sisters, Barbara Lee, Elfreda Garlington and Hazel Massey; her brothers, Donald and Norman Lee.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her step son, Theodore Grant Davis III; her nieces, Rhonda Massey and husband David, Cynthia York and husband Jonnie, Beverly Perez and husband Ali; her 3 step granddaughters; her 4 grandnephews and 1 grandniece; 7 great grand nieces and nephews.
