Norma Jean Spunaugle Nies

Decatur ~ Norma Jean Spunaugle Nies, 90, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Dr. David Lowry will officiate.

Pallbearers include Randy Hubbard, Ray Markham, Blake Nichols, Ryan Hubbard, and Cole Lambert.

Norma was born August 16, 1930 to Oswald C. and Mary Agnes (Krivan) Nies in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was a retired house parent at Denton State School for almost 21 years. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Mary Nies; and her daughter, Donna Sue Markham.

Those left behind to cherish her name are her daughter, Linda Hubbard and husband Ronald of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Pamela Lambert, Randy Hubbard and wife Stephanie, Rebecca Nichols and Husband Blake, and Ray Markham and wife Kelsey; 12 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Cole, Emily, Ryan, Samantha, Sydnie, Sara Kate, Donna Shae, Taylor, Carson, Lexton and Zander; 3 sisters, Marjorie Houchin, Sunny Brown, and Karen Young; 3 brothers, Butch Nies, Doug Nies, and Randy Nies; extended family members, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
