Austin ~ Oleta Fae Motsenbocker Nix, 95, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2019 in Austin less than one week after the passing of her loving husband Joe.
Memorial Service is 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17th, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Oleta was born on April 14th, 1924 to John and Ollie Motsenbocker near Paradise, Texas in an area known as “Scalawag Bend” on the west fork of the trinity river.
In the words of her daughters “Our beautiful mom knew and loved Jesus, so we know she is where there is no more discomfort or confusion, nor the isolation of growing old. She abides with our Lord Jesus Christ.”
She had a fun-loving childhood thanks to the hijinks of her siblings, her big brother Joe, her sisters Barcie and Lavonne,her brother Ralph, and her little sister Doris.
She graduated Paradise High School as valedictorian and loved learning all of her life. She was united in marriage to Joe Nix on September 22, 1941 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Oleta was a homemaker and they had three daughters; Sandy Nix, Susan Modlin, and Shirley D’angelo.
Oleta enjoyed playing the piano, singing hymns, gardening, sewing, and hand making quilts. But most of all she enjoyed and loved her grandchildren Karen, Mike, Lauren, Joanna, and John.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandy Nix of Austin, Susan Modlin and husband Bob of Timnath, Colorado and Shirley D’Angelo and husband Vito of Austin; her grandchildren, Karen, Mike, Lauren, Joanna and John; her great grandchildren, Theo and Eleanor.
