Ollie Lucille (Lucy) (West) Smith

Decatur ~ Ollie Lucille (Lucy) Smith, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Monday, October 17, 2016 in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur.

Dale Webster will officiate. Pallbearers include Asa Johnson Jr., Mickey Scarborough, Trevor Brazile, James Wood, Jodi Tebaugh, and Nestor Kadjo. Honorary pallbearers are Roland Davies.

Lucy was born on March 5, 1930 to Herman and Ella (Myers) West in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage to William Homer Smith Sr. on October 25, 1953 in Gainesville. Lucy was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She was a hard worker all her life. Lucy was a dairy woman, worked at Dickies in Fort Worth and L.M. Pate’s Angus Bar-B-Que in Bridgeport for years. She was a waitress at Eagle Café in Decatur and Peachtree in Bridgeport and made hamburgers (she was famous for) at the Sale Barn in Decatur for over 20 years. She loved every one of all ages and they loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Smith Sr., her son, Homer Smith Jr.; her daughter, Patsy Doll Smith; her 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sisters, Darlene West Luther and husband Charles of Chico, Janice Roberts Phillips and husband Jackie of Bridgeport; her granddaughter, Patsye Smith Kadjo and husband Nestor of Arlington; her grand and great grandchildren; her Daughter-in-law, Darenda Smith Kirby of Cedar Hill; her 3 step daughters, Judy Crider and husband Freddy of Liberty, Texas, Sandra Morrow and husband Billy, Glenda Pigg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
