BRIDGEPORT -- Opal Grace Tackel, 99, went to be with our Lord Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial: West Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends: 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday. Rev. Dana Coker will officiate, assisted by Rev. Johnny Irish. Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
Opal Grace was born on February 24, 1909, the daughter of John Roland and Carnelia Johnston in Wise County. Opal was a homemaker. She married Aubrey D. Tackel on June 7, 1927 in Decatur. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Johnny abd Lloyd Johnston; and a sister, Molly Curry.
Left behind to cherish her memory is: Daughter, Carnelia Blalock and husband, Buddy of Bridgeport; son, John Tackel of Garland; 6 grandchildren, Erick and Jeff Blalock, Lisa Alexander, Steven Tackel, Patti Tackel, and Brad Tackel; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
