Bridgeport ~ Oran K. Goode, 79, a retired safety coordinator, went to be with our Lord Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Dr. David Burrows will officiate. Pallbearers include Nicholas Hardin, Ross Hardin, Tommy Newton, Randall Aaron, David Cave, and Remington Lane. Honorary pallbearers are B.C. Green, G.B. Funk, Carl Cox, Roy Baucom, Tommy Denton, Dan Stack, Bill Arrington, Robert Meek, James White, and Travis Van Hoose.
Oran was born on December 3, 1934 to Kossie and Lillie (Buckingham) Goode in Electra, Texas. He was united in marriage to Myrna Ross on June 25, 1960 in Bridgeport. Oran served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from the TXI plant in Chico. Oran was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Bridgeport Historical Society, and Bridgeport Cemetery Board. Oran was on the Bridgeport City Council from 1970-1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Myrna Ross Goode of Bridgeport; his daughters, Keila Goode Cave of Fort Worth, Kelli Goode Babin and husband Jim of Lewisville; his grandson, David Noah Cave; his granddaughters, Heidi Nicole Babin, Katie Marie Babin, Anna Grace Cave; his sister, Naomi Rawls of Decatur; other family members and a host of friends.
