Orville was born on June 11, 1922 to James and Margaret (Hubbard) Maggard in Harlan County, Kentucky. He was a waterline installer. After enlisting in the U.S. Army at age 17, he landed at Omaha Beach and fought in the European Theater during WWII. Orville was a lifetime member of the Bowie VFW. He loved fishing, playing his guitar, and feeding the local homeless. Orville will be missed by many. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, James Carroll of East Liverpool, Ohio; his daughters, Patricia Carroll of Calcutta, Ohio, and Margaret Carroll of Houston; his sister, Phyllis Bowling and husband Roger of Louisville, Kentucky; his oldest and dearest friends for over 60 years and who cared for him, Fred and Minnie Steinly of Azle; other family members and a host of friends.
