This obituary will not be enough to express the kind of man Oscar was.
Oscar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He married the love of his life, Rosa Gallegos Cisneros, 69 years ago in Lavaderos, Tamaulipas on November 17, 1956.
His work ethic was unmatched. He worked at the Hornback and Rhine ranch farms for over 10 years as a ranch hand. His jobs included riding a John Deere tractor, plowing and preparing endless acres for alfalfa planting. He would also get up before sunrise to round up cattle for milking.
This was instilled in his children and grandchildren as well as the next generation of Flores' great grandchildren.
He moved his family from Mexico with the help of the ranch owner Eddie Hornback in 1970. He dreamed of a better future for his family.
He was selflessly committed to his family while being stern and showing his love through his actions. He would take his children to haul hay in the summer but taught them how to drive stick shift before even getting a license. When his children became teenagers, he left the dairy farm business and bought a house in the city in the 80s. This is when he started working at the Decatur Glass Factory as a glass blower. After that, he then started working in James Wood Dealership as a car detailer tech until his retirement.
Even after retirement, he continued to work non-stop mostly as a gardener and mowing yards. This includes working at the properties of JE and Betty Carson for 30 years as well as maintaining the grounds at Oaklawn Cemetery from May 2015- October 2022.
He died peacefully surrounded by his children on March 4, 2025. He will be missed greatly but leaves an amazing legacy.
