Decatur ~ Paul Arthur Lipp, 68, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m Friday at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur. There will be a gathering following the service at the home of Paul and Darlene Lipp. 2255 County Road 2224, Decatur, Texas.
Bro. Mike Stallsworth will officiate. Pallbearers will include Erica Swett, Faye Farzin, Greg Swett, Nema Farzin, Gary Lipp, and Hunter Hammond .
Paul was born on September 8, 1950 to Paul and Lorraine (Yvonne) Lipp in Lowell, Massachusetts. He married Darlene Barone on December 27, 1997 in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. Paul retired after 47 years as a railroad engineer for the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail out of Boston, Massachusetts. Upon retirement he relocated from Hampton Falls, NH to Decatur, Texas to spend more time with his daughters and grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist Four and was a member of both the National Rifle Association and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. He was an animal lover, an avid gunman, and he delighted in spending time in retirement as part of the Decatur Citizen’s Police Academy, winning the “Top Shooter” award in 2018. He was a proud member of society, always spending time helping others and working “on the ranch”. He was an extremely proud man who loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren above all else.
Those left behind to cherish his beloved smile and memory include his wife of 21 years, Darlene Barone Lipp of Decatur; daughters, Erica Swett and husband Greg of Southlake, Faye Farzin and husband Nema of Frisco, and Nina Stadelman and husband Matt of Los Angeles, California; 5 grandchildren, Jack and Cole Swett, Hunter Hammond, and Arianna and Nolan Farzin; his father, Paul Lipp of Vermont; a brother, Gary Lipp of Vermont; a sister, Ann Marie Lawrance of Vermont; numerous nieces, a nephew, extended family, and a host of friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Yvonne Lipp.
