Paul M. Seagraves

Paul M. Seagraves, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022 while riding his horse at the family farm SW of Bridgeport.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial to follow in Willow Point Cemetery. A meal will be provided following the service at the Bridgeport Community Center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave. Bridgeport, Texas 76426. Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Paul was born on November 15, 1945 to Ancil L. and Okla P. (Linehan) Seagraves in Jacksboro. He graduated from Denton High School in May 1964. After working in Denton awhile, Paul went to work for General Motors Service Parts Organization in Dallas around April 3, 1965. While at GM, Paul was elected a Union Steward for 16 years. He took early retirement in November 1995. Paul’s next endeavor was working in the oilfield. Along with the oilfield, he began pursuing his passion as a horse trainer, farmer and rancher in Wise County. During his time at GM, Paul attended Texas Tech University during the Fall ‘65, ‘66 and ‘70. While at Tech, Paul met the love of his life, Rosita L. Bloom. They were united in marriage on August 28th, 1971, in Lubbock at First Baptist Church’s Ford Memorial Chapel. Paul and Rosita just recently celebrated 51 years of marriage!!

Paul was a faithful member of Balsora Baptist Church from October 24, 1971 until his passing. Paul was ordained a Deacon on May 17, 1987 under Pastor Duane Perkinson. He served as Music Minister several times; Assist Sunday School Director and loved teaching Adult Sunday School Class many times, for which he lovingly called “the Misfits”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; and his son, Paul M. Seagraves, II.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Rosita L. (Bloom) Seagraves; his daughter, Rasena Seagraves Parker and husband Keith of Temple; his grandchildren, Ralea Louise, Paige Meredith, Brook Lea Seagraves of Sulphur Springs; Derek Lamb and wife Jacey of Rockwall; their mother, Brandy Seagraves of Sulphur Springs; and one great-grandchild, Kamden of Sulphur Springs; his sister, Joann Seagraves Calmes and her husband, William of Aubrey; his brother, Donnie Seagraves and his wife Mary of Humble; another brother-in-law, George Allan Bloom of Amarillo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many extended family members and a host of great friends, a loving church family and many wonderful neighbors!

Paul’s charitable heart will be missed by all the lives he touched as well as his infectious uncanny humor that made him loved by all!!
