Peggy Joyce (Read) Calvert

Decatur ~ Peggy Read Calvert, 76, a retired nurse, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur.
Rev. Louis Horton and Kevin Walker will officiate. Pallbearers Jim Hooper, Sam Echavarria, Rick Read, Tim Kline, Craig Shaw and Chuck Robert. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Hooper, Tyler Hooper, Tucker Hooper and Trevin Hooper.
Peggy was born on September 10, 1940 to John and Irene (Pike) Read in Paradise, Texas. She was united in marriage to Charles Franklin Calvert on January 21, 1956 in Bridgeport. Peggy was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Solaris Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pam Horton and husband David of Decatur; her son; Mark Calvert of Decatur; her grandson, Brenden Horton of Decatur; her granddaughter, Misty Meyer and husband Tom of Idaho City, Idaho; her great-grandsons, Quinnien Gober, Aaron and Lane Meyer of Idaho City, Idaho; her sister, Patsy McClure of Mesquite, Geneva Hudson of Decatur; her brother; Bill Read and Harold Read of Paradise; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
