Peggy Jean (Logan) Mccurdy

Peggy Jean Logan McCurdy of Rhome, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, September 29, 2024 at exactly 92.5 years of age.

Peggy’s funeral is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at Rhome Church of Christ with burial at Thurmond-Fairview Cemetery in New Fairview, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Peggy was born on March 29, 1932, in Ft. Worth, Texas, she was the third child to Boyd Logan and Lucille Richardson Logan. She married the love of her life and her rock, Floyd Thomas McCurdy, on January 23, 1954, and was married for 63 years. They had three children: K.C., Kyle, and Amelia.

Peggy was a faithful member of the Rhome Church of Christ for 92 years and taught Bible class for 50 years. She graduated from Rhome High School and received a degree from Texas Woman’s University. Peggy taught home economics at Northwest High School. In 1970, she started Miss Peggy’s kindergarten (later preschool) and taught many area children until her retirement. She was known for her steadfast faith, dedicated teaching and selfless compassion, especially toward children. Peggy loved and was loved.

She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her parents, her sister June Logan Griffeth and brothers Billy and Bobby Logan.

Her surviving family includes: K.C. and Kim McCurdy, Kyle and Kendall McCurdy, and Amelia and Chris Martin. Her grandchildren are Kellan McCurdy, Luthien McCurdy, Julia Martin Huffnagle (husband Jamey), Daniel McCurdy (wife Kara and daughter Sally), Louisa Martin and John McCurdy. She leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Olivia Odom, Peggy and Floyd’s indispensable caretaker and friend for many years.
